Pembrokeshire Young Drivers Film Launch
28th July 2011
A launch was held recently at Ysgol Bro Gwaun in Fishguard to showcase a road safety awareness film produced by pupils at the school aimed at young drivers.
A group of sixth formers have been working hard over the last few months to produce this film, which focuses on the important issue of road safety in Pembrokeshire.
The young people scripted, designed and starred in the films, which will be circulated to schools, youth clubs and young farmers clubs throughout Pembrokeshire to promote safer driving.
The production consists of a series of short films outlining the various dangers young drivers are faced with. These include the use of mobile phones whilst driving, drink driving and what constitutes as being over the limit and the importance of car maintenance and wearing seatbelts.

Mike Roberts from media4schools worked with the pupils from the very start of the project and directed the overall film. He said: "The enthusiasm and determination by the pupils and their local community in wanting to make these films work, demonstrated how important a message these films have in warning us of the dangers we all face when driving. I had a fantastic time working with the pupils, it takes a team effort to produce a film. This project reflects how well organised they were and for that, they can be very proud of their achievements."
The Young Driver’s Film was made possible by John Gobbi, Road Safety Education Officer at Pembrokeshire County Borough Council and was funded by a Welsh Government road safety grant.
